The inaugural Volvo Padel Open, organized by Volvo Malaysia, is set to be the biggest and first official competition in Malaysian history. The 500 padel players that compete from June 8–9 will face off in the grand finals at ASCARO Padel & Social Club on June 15, 2024. Up to 100,000 Malaysian Ringgit in prizes are up for grabs for the winners.

To participate, each team must pay 200 Malaysian Ringgit; however, if one member of the team owns a Volvo, the charge is reduced by 100 Malaysian Ringgit. Three divisions are available for paddlers to compete in: Women’s, Open, and Intermediate. In addition, from June 1–2, players in the Open and Women’s divisions will have access to coaching sessions.

Padel is a relatively new sport that is reportedly expanding at the world’s quickest rate. Over 25 million paddle players are said to be dispersed throughout 110 countries. In Sweden, the home country of Volvo, hundreds of thousands of people participate in the new sport.

Daniel Liljekvist, Managing Director of Malaysia’s pioneering padel operator, ASCARO Padel and Social Club, shared: “Volvo Car Malaysia is our first court and automotive partner and today we are elevating our partnership to co-host the Volvo Padel Open. Partnerships like this not only help elevate the experience for our players and customers, but also allow us to stay true to our mission of championing the vibrant community and style surrounding this growing sport.”
