Brighton and Hove are now home to four brand-new padel courts, part of the exciting Hove Beach Park development. These courts, which opened for bookings on December 27, 2024, are operated by Game4Padel, the UK’s leading padel operator.
Padel, a fast-growing sport played in over 130 countries, combines elements of tennis and squash. With only 500 padel courts in the UK, the addition of these courts is a significant development for enthusiasts.
The new courts are part of a broader regeneration project aimed at revitalizing the underused seafront area in West Hove. The project includes a range of sports and leisure facilities, such as tennis courts, bowls, croquet, skating, skateboarding, BMX, and sand sports. The park is set to be formally opened in spring 2025.
To celebrate the opening, Game4Padel is hosting an open day on January 11, 2025, offering free introductory sessions from 10am to 5pm. This event is a fantastic opportunity for newcomers to try out the sport and for existing players to explore the new facilities.
Councillor Julie Cattell, the council’s lead member for major projects, expressed her excitement about the new courts, stating, “Padel is a fast-growing sport and I’m sure these exciting new facilities will be really popular.” Game4Padel CEO Michael Gradon added, “We have built a thriving padel community at Withdean and look forward to welcoming some of those players down here, as well as introducing a whole new community to this fun, inclusive, and highly sociable sport.”
