Places Leisure Eastleigh has announced an exciting new proposal to enhance its sports facilities with the addition of four outdoor padel courts. This initiative aims to expand the leisure centre’s offerings and provide the community with more opportunities for physical activity and recreation.
Padel, a rapidly growing sport that combines elements of tennis and squash, has been gaining popularity worldwide. The proposed courts will measure 20 meters in length and 10 meters in width, featuring an open-sided canopy to ensure playability in various weather conditions. These courts are designed to cater to both junior and adult players, offering a space for social and competitive play, as well as development and coaching sessions.
The leisure centre, already well-equipped with facilities such as floodlit tennis courts, netball courts, five-a-side football areas, and a full-size pitch, sees this addition as a significant improvement to its existing amenities. The new padel courts will not only enhance the sporting landscape of Eastleigh but also align with the centre’s mission to promote health and well-being within the community.
The proposal has been submitted to the Eastleigh Borough Council, and a consultation with local residents is planned to gather feedback and ensure the project meets community needs. If approved, the courts will be available for use until 9 PM on weekdays and until 8 PM on weekends, providing ample time for enthusiasts to enjoy the sport.
