In his capacity as an ambassador for the upscale Brisk padel equipment company, former tennis great and Rafa Nadal’s coach Carlos Moyá is thrilled that Mallorca will host the inaugural Brisk International Tournament from August 14–17. Moyá claims that he played padel sometimes while he was a professional tennis player. After retiring, he began to play more frequently, and he currently serves as the ambassador for Brisk, which just had its first event in Kuwait. This will be the second tournament to take place in Mallorca.
The competition will take place at the Pins Padel Club in Palma. Mateu Palmer, a former professional tennis player, who is also the director and owner of Pins Padel, explained that they selected Mallorca because the sport is very well-liked there and it is an ideal venue for this kind of competition. The club will be completely open to the public throughout the four days of the competition, even though the 14 courts will be closed. The organizers hope that as many people as possible will attend and enjoy the event.
Palmer revealed “The Brisk padel tournament will be a great promotion for Mallorca because approximately 100 international players have been invited, and many of them don’t know the island.
“There are two levels. In category A there will be players from the International Padel Federation, the World Padel Tour and they will be paired with top players from the Middle East and the rest of the world. That’s the philosophy, to mix European players with those from the GCC and beyond in both the male and female categories. Category B is open to players who don’t have International Padel Federation (IFP) points and the prizes are 7,500 euros, which is incredible for a tournament of this kind in Mallorca. It’s certainly the biggest prize for amateur padel players in Mallorca, if not the whole of Spain.”
