Another epic afternoon for Fernando Belasteguin in his last tournament in Argentina, this time culminating a comeback with Tello against Barahona-Zapata that puts them squarely in the quarterfinals of this Mar del Plata Premier Padel P1. The stands were filled again and, as in the round of 16, the high point of the day came with the victory of Bela and Tello, who will face each other, neither more nor less, than with the number 1: Arturo Coello and Agustín Tapia.
Among all the favorite couples in the men’s draw, only Lebron and Paquito Navarro fell this Thursday and they did so against the outstanding Coki Nieto and Jon Sanz, who will face Yanguas-Garrido. The other two quarterfinal matches will be between Galán and Chingotto against Sanyo and Maxi, and Stupa-Di Nenno against Momo and Álex Ruiz.
In the women’s draw, the best couples all won in two sets. Triay-Fernández and Sainz-Llaguno will open a day that will start this Friday at 9:00 a.m., local time, and will host the eight games on the Central Court of the Islas Malvinas Sports Center. The other three women’s matches will be Brea-González vs Ortega-Virseda, Sánchez-Josemaría vs Riera-Araujo, and Salazar-Icardo vs Ustero-Alonso.
