Premier Padel will return to Spain on April 28 of next year. It will do so for the first time this season at Seville, one of the new locations that will be added to the schedule for 2024. Moreover, La Cartuja offers an unparalleled paddle tennis environment.
The best padel tennis in the world will take place inside the stadium that just played host to the Copa del Rey soccer final between Athletic Club and Mallorca a few days ago. In particular, half of the field and one of the sides will be used to create a total of four courts. On the other hand, three additional stands will be erected to the one in the same stadium on the side to accompany the central court. There will be space for spectators in the side stands for subsidiary courts as well.
The sixth competition of the year, following the tests in Riyadh, Doha, Acapulco, and Puerto Cabello, will be the Sevilla Premier Padel P2, with the next one taking place in Brussels. Regarding the division, this will be Spain’s first-ever P2 competition. Since just one Premier Padel event per season had been hosted in Spain during the first two years of the circuit, and that event had always taken place in the capital, Seville will really be the first city to hold an event outside of Madrid.
Agustín Tapia and Arturo Coello to play
Additionally, although though this tournament is in the lowest Premier Padel category, the list of entrants already includes well-known players on the circuit like Agustín Tapia and Arturo Coello, who is ranked first.
Since this was the first time in a football stadium, there were some concerns about how La Cartuja’s design would be modified to accommodate a sport like paddle tennis, which has courts of 20 by 10 meters, so that spectators could view it as best they could. You can see what La Cartuja will look like at the Sevilla P2 celebration in these pictures that the organizers made.
The preliminary stages of the competition will begin on Sunday, the 28th, and tickets for the final phase matches will be available starting on Tuesday, the 30th, at a special price of €7.5. Except for Saturday, July 4, when all tickets to witness the semifinals have already been sold out, tickets are now available for purchase on the official Sevilla Premier Padel website.
