Toys R Us in Gloucester will be converted to a padel club with 9 courts

Nine indoor courts, a restaurant, and a bar are being built on the site of the former Toys R Us building in Gloucester by a padel club.

The Padel Club, with courts all across the UK, is transforming the 43,000 square foot warehouse.

The club has chosen six new sites for development, including Gloucester.

Kris Ball, CEO of The Padel Club, told BBC Radio Gloucestershire: “Padel is a very, very easy game to get into.
“This building ticked all of the boxes for us. Big square footage – high ceilings which is quite important for the game of padel – and it’s a prominent building right in the centre of Gloucester.
“We like to be in areas where there’s a good sporting scene, and I think Gloucester’s definitely got that.”

Before branching out into the south, Kris and the Padel Club crew first opened courts in the northwest of England.
The first week of October will see the opening of Padel Club Gloucester Quays.
