Marc Klopp, son of former Liverpool manager Jürgen Klopp, is spearheading a project to bring padel courts to the city. His company, Padel FC, has been selected as the preferred bidder to develop a padel club at Liverpool Tennis Centre, following an initiative by Liverpool City Council to introduce the sport to the area.

The proposed facility will feature six indoor and three outdoor padel courts, along with amenities such as toilets and a food truck. The development will be housed under a dome-shaped steel structure with plastic sheeting, ensuring year-round playability. Padel FC plans to invest approximately £500,000 in the project, with an initial annual rent of £70,000, increasing to £140,000 in subsequent years.

Liverpool City Council has issued heads of terms for a 25-year lease agreement, with the local authority’s cabinet set to discuss the project further. If approved, the courts will provide a new sporting hub for the city, catering to the growing popularity of padel.

Marc Klopp, alongside co-directors Bradley Orr, Michael Smith, and Carl Spellman, aims to establish Liverpool as a key destination for padel enthusiasts. With the sport gaining traction worldwide, the new facility could play a significant role in expanding its presence in the UK.
