An indoor padel tennis hub is gearing up to open this month at a business and retail park in Reading. The Padel Hub specializes in padel tennis, a fusion of tennis and squash which originates from Mexico and is now played by over 30 million people worldwide. The company currently has four sites and is about to open its fifth location in Reading this month. Allan Curtis, group club director, said: “It’s a great family sport. The ball is in play a lot of the time, and the rallies are great.”
The state-of-the-art facilities include five premium indoor courts and a fully equipped onsite gym in partnership with world-leading specialist Technogym. The gym at The Padel Hub, coming to Reading in February, will offer a range of equipment and fitness classes. As an organization, the company fully embraces the social side of padel, creating a vibrant community atmosphere with lively café and bar areas where players can come together for pre and post-match socializing.
The Padel Hub Reading welcomes both experienced players and beginners, offering coaching, group lessons, social mix-ins, and the opportunity to take part in competitive tournaments. Complete beginners looking to give padel a go for the first time can join the free weekly ‘Intro to Padel’ session run by an in-house coaching team every Monday evening. Membership packages offer an ‘All Inclusive’ approach which includes the player’s part of the court fee, priority early access to court bookings, gym access, and organized mix-ins. Players can also choose a Pay To Play option. Courts will be live to book on the Playtonic app from Monday, February 24.
Ahead of opening, the company has applied to sell alcohol from a café area. The Padel Hub has applied to supply alcohol from 12pm to 11pm Monday to Saturday, and 12pm to 10pm on Sundays. Explaining the application, Mr. Curtis said: “We’re not trying to be a bar or a pub, the café is for our visitors and members from noon onwards circa to 10-10.30pm. We will have Challenge 25, age verification trained staff, a designated premises supervisor, and CCTV. This is a standard system, we are serving alcohol but not in the big volumes a pub would do, but it’s a good selection of beer, wine, and ciders. It’s much more a members feel rather than a pub.”
The Padel Hub was launched in Slough in 2023, and has since spread to Crawley, Whetstone, North London, and Epsom. The company is also due to open a sixth location in Fleet later this year. The Padel Hub Reading is located at Unit 4 Kenavon Drive, Forbury Business Park, Reading, RG1 3DH. The opening hours will be from 7:00 AM to 11:00 PM on weekdays, 8:00 AM to 10:00 PM on Saturdays, and 9:00 AM to 10:00 PM on Sundays.
The Padel Hub Reading is set to become a hub for padel tennis enthusiasts, offering top-notch facilities and a welcoming community atmosphere. Whether you’re a seasoned player or a complete beginner, there’s something for everyone at this exciting new venue.
