Norfolk is set to welcome a new padel court at Salle Moor Hall Farm, located on the city outskirts. This exciting development is part of the farm’s ongoing efforts to diversify its facilities and attract more visitors.
Padel, a sport that combines elements of squash and tennis, has been gaining popularity rapidly across the UK. The new court at Salle Moor Hall Farm will be the latest addition to the farm’s existing facilities, which include a coffee shop, brewery, bridal wear, and glamping.
The farm, a privately owned 132-acre estate, has already undergone a £90,000 refurbishment of its disused cattle shed to accommodate three padel courts, approved by Broadland District Council in September 2023. A recent application to convert some adjacent agricultural land to leisure use was also approved, allowing for the installation of an additional court.
Antony Moore, the farm’s marketing and asset manager, expressed enthusiasm for the project, noting that padel is “big in Spain and making its way across Europe”. According to the Lawn Tennis Association (LTA), there are now more than 500 padel courts in the UK, with hopes that the sport may become an Olympic event by 2032.
The new court will be available for use between 9 am and 5 pm from Monday to Saturday, with restrictions on Sundays and public holidays to accommodate local residents. This development is expected to make Salle Moor Hall Farm a popular destination for both locals and tourists, contributing to the area’s growing reputation as a hub for recreational activities.
