Tennis champions Andy and Jamie Murray share their enthusiasm for the sport of Padel, which is gaining popularity in the UK.
Originating in Mexico, Padel involves using paddles instead of rackets and allows the ball to bounce off walls. With approximately 300,000 predicted players by the end of the year, the sport is sociable as it is played in doubles and is considered more forgiving, making it suitable for people of all ages and skill levels.
The sport is predicted to become an Olympic sport by 2032, and UK number one Tia Norton is pleased to see its growth in the country. Padel differs from tennis as the ball can bounce off the walls, giving more play time, and the courts are smaller. Paddle organizers are hoping for more permanent courts to be built as tennis champions like the Murrays promote the sport as an easy and fun activity for everyone.
