The Pro Padel League (PPL) is North America’s first professional padel league, showcasing some of the world’s top male and female padel players. The league has quickly gained momentum and is set to offer an exciting and competitive season in 2024.
The PPL season is divided into several key components:
Regular Season: The regular season consists of 4 events, each lasting 6 days (Monday to Saturday). Teams are split into 2 groups of 5, and each team plays every team in their group once. The top two teams from each group advance to the semifinals, with winners progressing to the final and losers competing for third and fourth place.
Event Format: Each event includes men’s doubles, women’s doubles, and a mixed doubles match. Men’s and women’s doubles are played as the best two out of three sets with a 10-point champions breaker in lieu of the third set. The mixed doubles match is a one-set match with a tie-breaker at 6-6.
PPL Cup Final: Following the regular season, the top eight teams in the standings advance to the PPL Cup Final. The final event runs for five days, with teams guaranteed three matches over three days. The competition format remains the same as the regular season events.
The 2024 season of the PPL boasts a substantial prize money purse of $1 million. This significant increase in prize money highlights the league’s commitment to growing the sport and attracting top talent from around the world. The prize money is distributed among the top teams and players, with the ultimate goal of providing exceptional opportunities for padel athletes and entertaining fans.
The PPL’s innovative format and generous prize money are set to make the 2024 season one of the most exciting and competitive in the history of the sport. With top players from various countries participating, fans can look forward to high-quality matches and thrilling competitions.
