Lady Heyes Camping and Caravan Site on Kingsley Road in Northwich has submitted plans to build three new padel tennis courts. The proposed courts will measure 10m x 20m each and will feature a synthetic turf play surface surrounded by glass and mesh panels.

Padel tennis, a fast-growing racquet sport often played in doubles, combines elements of tennis and squash. The enclosed court allows the ball to bounce off the glass walls or metallic mesh. Originating in Mexico, padel tennis has gained popularity worldwide.

The planning statement submitted to Cheshire West and Chester Council highlights that the proposed use aligns with the existing outdoor recreational use of the land. The project does not involve any new buildings and aims to preserve the openness of the Green Belt. Additionally, the proposal includes the provision of 10 car parking spaces for visitors.

No decision date has been set, and the plans can be viewed on the council’s planning portal under reference number 24/02694/FUL.
