Great success for the inaugural AIL PADEL CUP 2024 at the Due Ponti Sporting Club

Rome – The Due Ponti Sporting Club was abuzz with excitement and energy as it hosted the first edition of the AIL Padel Cup 2024, a men’s and mixed padel tournament. The event, organized by AIL Rome in collaboration with the Due Ponti Sporting Club, marked the 40th anniversary of the Roman section of the Association against Leukemia, Lymphoma, and Myeloma.

The tournament featured a star-studded lineup of football and entertainment personalities, including Eleonora Daniele, Simone di Pasquale, Andrea Preti, Marcelo Fuentes, Sofia Bruscoli, Flavia Vento, Charlie Gnocchi, Leonardo Metalli, and Flaminia Bolzan. Athletes such as Paolo Di Canio, Luca Marchegiani, Dario Marcolin, Giampiero Maini, Alessandro Lupi, Alessio Scarchilli, and Fernando Orsi also participated.

The event was not just about sports; it was a heartfelt tribute to those affected by blood cancers. The players competed throughout the afternoon, with every padel shot contributing to the promotion of scientific research for the treatment of leukemia, lymphoma, and myeloma.

In a thrilling final, Dario Marcolin and Giampiero Maini emerged victorious, defeating Paolo Di Canio and Luca Marchegiani. The mixed gold title went to Maria di Stolfo and Valerio Ficini. The winners were awarded by Maria Luisa Viganò, president of AIL Rome, Maurizio Martelli, Director of the Hematology Unit of the Policlinico Umberto I, and Emanuele Tornaboni, president of the Due Ponti Sporting Club.

The AIL Padel Cup 2024 was a resounding success, not only for the sportsmanship displayed but also for the significant contribution it made towards a future without blood cancers.
