In a groundbreaking development, a 57,000 sq ft warehouse in Farnham, Surrey is set to be transformed into “Europe’s biggest” indoor pickleball and padel club. The project, known as THE HOPP (The Hub of Pickleball and Padel), has received planning permission from Waverley Borough Council and is expected to open its doors in mid-202.
The ambitious £2.5 million project will feature 10 indoor pickleball courts and four padel courts, making it the largest venue of its kind in Europe. The initiative is led by Sally Grace and Andre Strachan, both accomplished players who recently won the Skechers Pickleball English Open mixed doubles gold medal.
The transformed warehouse will not only offer a multitude of courts but also include luxury social spaces, changing and catering facilities, a club shop, and expert coaching. Additionally, the venue will have a mezzanine bar with a 360-degree view of all indoor courts, a main bar, and a lounge area for relaxation.
THE HOPP aims to provide a fun, accessible, and addictive sporting experience for all ages and abilities. Pickleball and padel, both rapidly growing in popularity, combine elements of badminton, tennis, and table tennis, offering a unique and engaging way to stay active.
Grace and Strachan expressed their excitement about the project, stating, “We’re absolutely delighted that THE HOPP has been given the go-ahead because it means Farnham will soon play host to Europe’s biggest indoor pickleball and padel club. We’re keen to give people across our community the opportunity to experience a fun, accessible, and addictive sport which we know is great for all ages and abilities.”
The project has already received overwhelming positive public reaction, and the developers are eager to turn their vision into reality. With its state-of-the-art facilities and welcoming atmosphere, THE HOPP is poised to become a major hub for racket sports enthusiasts across Europe.
