King George’s Park has recently unveiled two new floodlit Padel courts, offering local residents the opportunity to engage in this rapidly growing sport. Padel, a dynamic blend of tennis and squash, has been gaining popularity across Europe, and now, thanks to the council’s efforts, it is more accessible than ever in Wandsworth.

The courts were officially opened during a community event, where residents had the chance to try out the sport for free. The initiative is part of the council’s “Access for All” scheme, which aims to ensure that everyone, regardless of their background, can enjoy the facilities. Eligible adults, including refugees, asylum seekers, and those on various benefits, can play for free every day between 1pm and 3pm. Additionally, children under 18 can enjoy free play between 3pm and 5pm on weekdays.
