Highland Park is gearing up for the grand opening of its new domed pickleball and padel facility this winter. This state-of-the-art complex, named Club Pickle and Padel, promises to be a year-round haven for sports enthusiasts, offering a modern and inclusive environment for players of all ages and skill levels.

The facility, spanning 50,000 square feet, will feature ten pickleball courts and four padel courts. Designed with the community in mind, it aims to provide a welcoming space where residents can gather, compete, and learn. The dome replaces an older structure that had served the community for 15 years, ensuring that the new facility meets contemporary standards and expectations.

One of the highlights of Club Pickle and Padel is its focus on creating an exceptional playing experience. The design includes thoughtful details such as optimal court layouts, vibrant colors, and advanced lighting, all contributing to a superior atmosphere for players. The facility will also house a reception area, gear and concession sales, and restrooms, ensuring convenience for all visitors.

The project, with a budget of $4.2 million, has received significant support from the local community. Highland Park native Ron Saslow has generously donated $2 million, with additional funding coming from the Parks Foundation of Highland Park, individual and business donors, sponsors, and the park district itself.

As the opening date approaches, the park district has appointed Zach Pellowski, an experienced pickleball instructor, as the head pro at Club Pickle and Padel. Pellowski brings a wealth of knowledge and enthusiasm to the role, having previously served as the head pickleball pro at Deer Creek Racquet Club and Danny Cunniff Park.

Club Pickle and Padel is set to become a central hub for pickleball and padel in Highland Park, fostering a sense of community and promoting active lifestyles. With its cutting-edge amenities and inclusive approach, the facility is poised to be a popular destination for both seasoned players and newcomers eager to try these fast-growing sports.
