At a golf club in Leeds, plans have been submitted to build new padel courts that will “help the future of the club and the local economy.” With the assistance of NJL Consulting, Pure Padel Clubs Ltd. has filed a complete planning application to Leeds City Council for construction on an abandoned bowling green on the property of Moor Allerton Golf Club.
The construction of four padel courts, an outdoor social area with seats, and bike parking all require planning permission. A basic vending machine servery and padel-related equipment retail section would be part of the proposed reception kiosk. There would also be restrooms and a changing area.
According to a statement:
“The provision of padel will add to the facilities available to the local community and provide access to a new sport that is increasingly popular in the UK. This will offer all year access to a fun and healthy activity and provide a positive impact to be enjoyed by the local community.
“The positive benefits of additional sports provision in the community and the creation of a venue for sports competition will support the future of the club and the local economy.
“Adding covered padel courts offers an improved facility with a broader range of activities to encourage the community in taking more exercise without encroaching on any land beyond the boundary of the existing club. It will enhance the existing sports facilities at the club which will help to support their continued growth and sustainability.”
