SANDTON, JOHANNESBURG. The Wanderers Club’s grounds were turned into a chilling wonderland for the Halloween padel event, setting the stage for an unforgettable Halloween. A night that crossed the boundaries between sport and spectacle, the courts were decked out in creepy décor, and the tournament featured not only skill but also vampires, witches, and fairies.
Donning their best Halloween costumes, twelve teams of padel fans assembled to play under Americano rules, a dynamic format that kept players guessing at every turn. The environment was teeming with the excitement of competition, laughing, and the desire to see who could elevate their padel dances and costumes to the highest degree.
Despite the intense competition, Ryan Whyte and Keagan Hope ultimately prevailed, taking home the top honors of the evening thanks to their unwavering willpower and skill on the court. But padel skill wasn’t the only factor in the victory. The well-deserved title of best dressed went to Loretta Hope and Lynn Whyte for their outstanding costumes, while Cassie Pengelly, Cait Welgemoed, Mandy Bellis, and Sarah McTavish Quiding were named the most energetic teams. Their enthusiasm and flare made a lasting impact.
