Coello and Tapia progressed to the next round of Premier Padel Milan P1 2025 after Miguel and Nuno Deus were forced to withdraw, just one day after their historic marathon match.
The Portuguese duo Miguel and Nuno Deus withdrew from their Day 3 clash against top seeds Arturo Coello and Agustín Tapia due to physical exhaustion. The decision came less than 24 hours after the brothers triumphed in the longest padel match ever recorded, lasting 3 hours and 17 minutes.
Their epic victory, achieved in the Round of 64, pushed the limits of endurance and etched their names into padel history. The match was hailed across the circuit for its intensity and resilience, but the toll proved too great for a swift recovery.
Coello and Tapia Move Forward
With the withdrawal confirmed, Coello and Tapia advanced without stepping onto the court. The Spanish-Argentine pair, ranked number one in the world, were set to make their Milan debut in front of a packed crowd at the Allianz Cloud.
“It’s unfortunate for the fans and for the Deus brothers, who gave everything yesterday,” Tapia said in a post-match interview. “We were ready to compete, but we understand their situation.”
The duo will now prepare for their next match in the Round of 16, where they aim to continue their dominant run on the Premier Padel tour.
A Historic Day for Padel
The Deus brothers’ performance the day before was widely praised by players and commentators. Their match, which spanned over three hours, featured relentless rallies, dramatic momentum shifts, and a final set that tested both mental and physical limits.
“That was one of the most incredible displays of grit I’ve ever seen,” said Premier Padel analyst Javier Corrales. “They didn’t just play padel—they endured it.”
Despite their withdrawal, the brothers left Milan with admiration from fans and peers alike, having pushed the sport into new territory.
Looking Ahead
Coello and Tapia remain favorites for the title, with their next match expected to draw significant attention. The Milan P1 continues to deliver drama and emotion, and Day 4 promises more high-stakes action as the tournament progresses.
