Four new padel courts are set to open at Peterborough One Retail Park, following approval from Peterborough City Council. The courts will be covered and equipped with floodlights, offering year-round access to players of all levels. Located off Eye Road, the facility will be built within the car park owned by the Blue Diamond garden centre, opposite Aldi.
Technology-Driven Access and Lighting
The courts will feature a wi-fi-controlled keypad gate system, allowing players to enter using a code received after booking online. This same system will manage the low-energy LED floodlights, which will activate automatically based on scheduled play times. Pulse Padel, the company behind the project, plans to open the site by the end of 2025, with daily availability from 07:00 to 23:00.
“The courts will offer all year access to a fun and healthy activity and provide a positive impact on the area.” — James Jones, Pulse Padel
Coaching, Events, and Community Engagement
The facility will host group coaching for adults and children, one-to-one sessions, social club meetups, leagues, tournaments, and special events. The aim is to create a vibrant padel community in Peterborough, building on growing interest in the sport across the UK.
Local Support and Expansion
The planning application received strong local support, with 12 positive representations and only one objection related to access. This marks the second padel site approved in the city, following an earlier development near Stanground Academy.
