HIGHLIGHTS. Tapia and Coello overcome early pressure to defeat Hernandez and Valenzuela in straight sets

World No. 1 duo Agustín Tapia and Arturo Coello advanced to the round of 16 at the Valladolid Premier Padel P2 with a composed 6-4, 6-3 win over qualifiers Pol Hernández and Ramiro Valenzuela. Playing in front of a passionate home crowd at Plaza Mayor, the Spanish-Argentine pair weathered an aggressive start from their opponents before asserting their dominance.

Hernández and Valenzuela, making their main draw debut, came out swinging with fearless shot-making and sharp net play. They even earned a break lead in the first set, pushing Tapia and Coello to raise their level. The top seeds responded with clinical volleys and relentless pressure, breaking back and eventually sealing the set 6-4.

The second set saw Tapia and Coello take control early, breaking serve in the third game and never looking back. Their experience and tactical precision proved too much for the underdogs, who struggled to maintain their early intensity. A final break at 5-3 allowed the favorites to close out the match in just over an hour.

With this win, Tapia and Coello continue their strong 2025 campaign and move one step closer to another title on home soil. Their next match will be in the round of 16, where they’ll face a yet-to-be-determined opponent.
