During a recent interview with Marca, world number one padel player Arturo Coello addressed the wave of criticism that had previously been aimed at his fellow competitor Federico Chingotto. Coello admitted that he found the situation somewhat amusing at the time, sharing that he even discussed it with his team. However, beneath the humor, he acknowledged a deeper concern: the criticism was often unwarranted.

“There were many times when it was unfair,” Coello remarked, highlighting the resilience and competitive spirit that Chingotto consistently brings to the court. His comments come at a time when both players have been central figures in some of the sport’s most intense rivalries, particularly in matches featuring Coello and Agustín Tapia against Chingotto and Alejandro Galán.

He said: “When that moment happened where Chingotto was being criticized, it really amused me and I discussed it with my team (…) Many times it was unfair.”

Coello’s remarks not only defend Chingotto’s reputation but also underscore the camaraderie and mutual respect that exists among top-tier athletes in the padel world. His perspective offers a reminder that public perception doesn’t always align with the reality of a player’s dedication and performance.
