Soul Padel has shared exciting news about its upcoming facility at Queens Park Health and Fitness Centre in St Helens, where construction is expected to begin soon on Merseyside’s first covered padel courts. The development will feature four canopy-covered courts and a clubhouse designed from shipping containers, complete with a café, shop, and restrooms.

The project is part of Soul Padel’s broader expansion plan, which aims to establish 40 courts across the UK. St Helens was identified as a key location due to its strong sporting culture and lack of existing padel facilities. Founder Mark Hewlett noted the enthusiastic response from the local community, with around 20 inquiries a day coming in from residents eager to play.

The courts are being built on council-owned land, and the initiative includes efforts to make the sport accessible to all. Free sessions will be offered to schools, discounted rates will be available for people over 55, and partnerships are being formed with local colleges and universities to provide job opportunities and inclusive programs.

Construction is expected to take about 16 weeks, with the courts set to open in the autumn. Soul Padel hopes the new facility will not only promote physical activity but also contribute to the town’s regeneration and community engagement goals.
