A former bus depot in Nottingham city centre is set to be converted into a new padel centre, bringing one of the fastest-growing sports to the heart of the city. Pure Padel has secured approval to repurpose the historic building on Iremonger Road, adjacent to Notts County’s Meadow Lane stadium, into a modern facility.
The venue, originally constructed in the 1920s, will feature seven padel courts along with a spacious food and beverage area overlooking the Nottingham Canal. The project represents a £1.5 million investment, with Pure Padel working closely with Nottingham City Council to ensure its successful development.
Pure Padel, based in Manchester, has ambitious plans to expand across the UK, aiming to open 30 clubs within five years. The Nottingham centre will be part of this broader strategy, offering a high-quality space for players of all levels to enjoy the sport.
Padel, a racket sport that combines elements of tennis and squash, has seen a surge in popularity across Europe and the UK. With its enclosed courts and fast-paced gameplay, it has attracted a growing community of enthusiasts. The transformation of the Nottingham bus depot into a padel centre marks a significant step in promoting the sport in the region.
