Padel has officially cemented itself as a mainstream sport in Britain, with the country now ranking as the third-largest market in the world by revenue, behind only Spain and Italy.
The surge in popularity has been driven by a 300 percent increase in courts, with Britain now boasting more than 800 courts across 275 clubs. The demand for court bookings has skyrocketed, with racquet sports app Playtomic reporting a sharp rise in active users, from 35,000 to 156,000.
High-profile figures such as David Beckham, Andy Murray, and Stormzy have contributed to the sport’s visibility, with some investing in padel-related businesses. The UK has also been recognized as the most social padel nation, with the highest ratio of open matches—where players can sign up to play against strangers—compared to regular bookings worldwide.
With Britain’s padel scene thriving, experts believe this is just the beginning of its expansion, as more clubs and players continue to embrace the sport.
