Plymouth is set to embrace the excitement of Wimbledon fortnight with a unique sporting experience in the heart of the city. Padel United UK will install a full-size padel court in the city centre’s Piazza, allowing residents and visitors to try out one of the fastest-growing sports in the UK.
The pop-up court will be accompanied by a big screen broadcasting live Wimbledon matches, creating a vibrant atmosphere for tennis and padel enthusiasts alike. To enhance the experience, 200 deckchairs will be placed around the area, inviting spectators to relax and enjoy the action.
In addition to the sporting spectacle, the event will feature classic Wimbledon-themed refreshments, including strawberries, Pimms, Prosecco, and fish and chips. The initiative, supported by Plymouth City Centre Company and Plymouth Marjon University, aims to introduce more people to padel while celebrating the spirit of summer sports.
The event will run from June 30 to July 13, offering free access to both the padel court and Wimbledon screenings. Organizers hope the combination of padel, tennis, and social festivities will attract thousands of visitors, making it a memorable addition to Plymouth’s summer calendar.
