Agustín “Pollito” Tapia, the current world number one in padel, has been celebrated in his hometown of Catamarca with a mural that pays homage to his career and global impact. The artwork, unveiled in front of Municipal School No. 1, was created by artist Franco Miglia and presented during an emotional ceremony attended by Tapia, local residents, artists, and sports figures. The mural reflects Tapia’s identity and magic on the court, symbolizing the pride of Catamarca in one of its most accomplished athletes.
The artist’s vision
Franco Miglia, known for his emblematic murals across the city, explained the inspiration behind the project. “This mural is not just a painting, it’s a message of pride and identity. It’s telling the boys and girls that you can dream big even from Catamarca,” Miglia said during the event. The initiative was first introduced months ago when the artwork was still in its sketch stage, and it has now been completed and inaugurated, offering a permanent tribute to Tapia’s achievements.
Tapia’s gratitude
Tapia expressed his appreciation for the recognition and the ongoing support he receives from the people of Catamarca. “I’m very excited. More than being close to home, this is a thank you to all the people who support me throughout the year, even when I’m far away,” he said. His words highlighted the strong bond between the athlete and his community, which has followed his journey closely as he rose to the top of the sport.
A remarkable season
The mural comes at the end of a historic year for Tapia. Alongside his partner Arturo Coello, he secured 13 international titles in 2025, consolidating their status as the best duo on the world circuit. This recognition in Catamarca not only honors his sporting success but also serves as a symbol of inspiration for future generations who aspire to follow in his footsteps.
The “Mozart of padel” now has a lasting tribute in his hometown, a reminder of both his extraordinary talent and the pride he brings to Catamarca.
