Playtomic, the digital racket sport platform, has successfully raised over €5.1 million (around $6 million) in its first community investment campaign. More than 4,600 new investors participated through Crowdcube, a European private markets investment platform, underscoring the growing enthusiasm for racket sports worldwide.
The power of community
The platform now boasts a network of over 4.7 million racket sport players and more than 6,000 partner clubs across 66 countries. Co-founder and CEO Félix Ruiz emphasized the importance of community involvement, stating: “This result confirms what we have always known: our community is Playtomic’s engine.” He added: “The fact that more than 4,600 people chose to invest in us shows immense confidence and motivates us to continue building the world’s largest racket sports community together. They are not just users: they are now co-owners.”
Expanding technology and global reach
The funds will be directed toward enhancing Playtomic’s technology, expanding operational capacity, and supporting the development of other sports such as pickleball. The company has evolved rapidly from a simple booking app into a global network, offering players more opportunities to connect and compete.
Growth in racket sports
Playtomic’s rise mirrors the broader surge in racket sports. Garmin’s year-end report revealed that racket sports grew by 67% in 2025, with padel leading the charge in Europe and gaining traction in the United States. Virginia-based Epic Padel recently secured $10 million in funding to strengthen the sport’s presence in America, highlighting its explosive potential.
Strategic partnerships
Earlier this year, Playtomic partnered with French racquet equipment company Babolat to focus on padel. Together, they hosted activations across major padel hubs in Spain, Italy, France, the U.K., Germany, and the U.S. These included Leveling Sessions, where players met new people, certified their playing level with professional coaches, and tested the latest Babolat rackets.
Innovation through competition
The collaboration also introduced the Global Digital League, a pioneering competition format open to players of all skill levels. Participants can accumulate points by playing anytime, anywhere, with anyone, climbing global rankings and competing for prizes and exclusive experiences.
This campaign and its results highlight how Playtomic is not only expanding its business but also fueling the worldwide growth of racket sports.
