ork city is set to welcome a brand new sports and wellness hub this week. The Hive, located on Monahan Road, will open its doors on Wednesday, December 17, offering a state-of-the-art facility dedicated to padel tennis, a sport that has quickly become one of Ireland’s most popular active pastimes.

Investment and transformation

Quintas Capital has announced a €2.27 million investment into The Hive, transforming a 19,000 square foot warehouse into a five-court indoor padel club. The venue will feature premium amenities including wellness spaces, recovery rooms, social areas, a café, and retail outlets. Kevin Canning, CEO of Quintas Capital, explained the vision behind the project: “We believe The Hive is more than a venue – it’s a long-term investment in Cork’s community and lifestyle.”

Community and lifestyle focus

The Hive aims to become more than just a sports centre. Rory Dennis of The Hive highlighted the broader mission: “Our goal has always been to bring something unique to Cork. A place where people can move, connect and belong. With this backing from Quintas Capital, we’re now confident we can deliver a facility that sets a new standard for sport, wellness and social life in the city.”

Expanding the sport across Cork

Currently, padel players in Cork have had to travel to Carrigtwohill to enjoy the sport. The Hive’s arrival will provide a central, accessible location for both seasoned players and newcomers. Bookings will be available through a dedicated app and website, ensuring easy access for the community. Beyond the city, there are already plans for additional courts across the county, with three separate applicants seeking to expand the sport further into the Rebel County.

The opening of The Hive marks a significant step in the growth of padel in Ireland. With strong investment, modern facilities, and a focus on community, Cork is positioning itself as a hub for both padel and wellness, offering residents a new way to stay active, connect, and thrive.
