Padel Play, located at Bromyard Business Park in St John’s, Worcester, opened its doors on October 18 and has quickly become a hub for the local community. Featuring four indoor courts, a bar and café, social spaces, and changing facilities, the club has seen demand exceed initial projections.
Community response and demand
The positive reaction from players has led the club to extend its evening opening hours by an extra hour. Ras Deol, one of five family directors, expressed his surprise at the overwhelming support. “The reaction has been great, we are seeing that community being built here now. I think it surpassed what we expected. We didn’t anticipate just how many people were wanting to learn more about the sport and improving their game,” he said.
Deol added that many visitors had previously been commuting long distances to play padel. “We have people who come through the door all the time and say ‘this was so needed in Worcester, thank you so much’. They were commuting maybe 30 to 40 minutes to go to their local club – people are so happy that this is now on their doorstep.”
Occupancy and growth
Since opening, Padel Play has reported full occupancy during weekends and steady bookings throughout the week. The consistent demand highlights the growing popularity of padel in the region and the club’s role in meeting that need.
Future ambitions
Despite being open for only a few weeks, the club has already outlined ambitious plans. These include launching a comprehensive coaching program in the New Year, building partnerships with schools, and hosting more social events to strengthen community ties.
Expansion plans
Looking beyond Worcester, Padel Play is preparing to open a second site in Stratford-upon-Avon in spring 2026. The expansion reflects the club’s confidence in padel’s rising popularity and its commitment to providing accessible facilities for players across the Midlands.
