Arturo Coello prepares for fifth Masters appearance with Tapia

Arturo Coello, currently regarded as the world’s best Premier Padel player, will make his fifth appearance at the Masters tournament this December. Despite his dominance on the circuit, the crown has remained out of reach. Last year, alongside his partner Agustín Tapia, Coello came closer than ever before, but Coki Nieto and Jonz produced one of the shocks of the season by saving two match points and denying him the title.

Coello downplays the pressure

Speaking to the QSI circuit, Coello admitted that he does not feel burdened by expectations heading into the event. “I don’t feel pressure to win because I’ve never won it. I don’t think many people expect me to win it because statistically, it’s unlikely I will,” said Coello. His words reflect a pragmatic approach, acknowledging both the difficulty of the tournament and the unpredictability of padel at the highest level.

The challenge of Palau Sant Jordi

This year’s Masters will mark Coello’s first time competing at the Palau Sant Jordi, a venue that adds another layer of motivation. “It has always eluded me and I have never won at the Palau either, it would be another thorn in my side that I would like to remove,” said Coello. The Spanish left-hander sees the event as an opportunity to break through and finally capture the elusive crown.

A defining moment in his career

For Coello, the Masters represents more than just another tournament. It is a chance to solidify his standing as the sport’s leading figure and to achieve a milestone that has so far slipped away. With Tapia by his side, he will once again attempt to overcome the obstacles that have denied him in previous years, aiming to turn persistence into triumph.
