Metis Capital LLC and the van Veggel Family Office announced that Austin Padel Center will open next year in the Sheldon Cove development in North Austin. The 22,000-square-foot facility will replace the current Wonderspaces space and join other businesses in the area, including Mesa Rim Climbing Gym.
Facility features
The center will include six indoor and three outdoor climate-controlled padel courts, ensuring year-round play. Additional amenities will feature a recovery lounge, locker rooms, a pro shop, a sports bar, and private meeting rooms, creating a comprehensive environment for both athletes and the local community.
Vision for the project
Benno van Veggel, founder of the van Veggel Family Office and Austin Padel Center, emphasized the broader mission behind the project. “After decades developing real estate and operating sports businesses—many centered on racket sports—we’re thrilled to bring the Padel Center brand to Austin with the support of Metis Capital. Our vision is to make Austin Padel Center a true destination where sport, community, and culture intersect,” he said.
Temporary pop-up ahead of launch
Before the official opening, a temporary pop-up facility will be available in Building 2 of Sheldon Cove starting in February. The full facility is scheduled to open in mid-2026 in Building 4, located at 1205 Sheldon Cove, Bldg. 4, Ste. A-H.
Growing padel presence
Padel, a sport that blends elements of tennis and squash, has been rapidly expanding worldwide. The Austin Padel Center aims to contribute to this growth by offering a premier venue for players of all levels, while also fostering community engagement through its diverse amenities.
