Alejandro Galán and Federico Chingotto overcame a slow start to defeat Lucho Capra and Aimar Goñi 5-7, 6-4, 6-1 in the round of 32 at the Premier Padel Dubai P1 2025. Capra and Goñi played aggressively, capitalizing on early break opportunities and taking the first set 7-5. The Spanish-Argentine duo looked fatigued, struggling to impose their rhythm against opponents who were sharp and determined.
Turning the match around
The second set marked a shift in momentum. Galán and Chingotto raised their level, improving their serve and tightening their net play. They broke at a crucial moment to edge the set 6-4, restoring balance to the contest. The pair converted break points and began to control rallies with greater consistency.
Dominance in the decider
By the third set, Galán and Chingotto had fully imposed themselves. Their energy returned, and they dictated play with precision and speed. Goñi and Capra, who had pushed them hard in the opening stages, struggled to keep pace as the No. 2 seeds closed out the match 6-1.
Galán on the challenge
Speaking after the match, Alejandro Galán acknowledged the difficulty of the encounter. “It was a very demanding match, especially after Kuwait,” Galán said. “Capra and Goñi played at a very high level in the first set, and we had to adjust quickly. In the third set, we found our rhythm and managed to dominate.”
Chingotto on resilience
Federico Chingotto emphasized the importance of staying calm under pressure. “We knew it would be tough because they are dangerous opponents,” Chingotto explained. “The key was to stay patient, keep fighting, and wait for the right moments to break. In the end, our energy and focus made the difference.”
Looking ahead in Dubai
With this victory, Galán and Chingotto advanced to the round of 16, where they will aim to continue their strong form. Their ability to recover from early setbacks and finish matches with authority reinforces their status as one of the top pairs on the Premier Padel Tour.
