Padel has achieved a significant milestone in its pursuit of Olympic status. The Olympic Council of Asia (OCA) has officially recognised the sport and confirmed its inclusion as a discipline in future editions of the Asian Games. This decision marks a major advancement for padel’s visibility and legitimacy on the international stage.
A Growing Presence in Multisport Events
The OCA’s endorsement follows padel’s recent appearances in other major multisport competitions. It was featured in the European Games 2023, the South American Games 2022, and is scheduled to be part of the Mediterranean Games in 2026. These inclusions reflect the sport’s expanding footprint across continents and its appeal to a diverse athletic audience.
Rapid Expansion Across Asia
Under the leadership of the International Padel Federation (FIP) and its regional arm Padel Asia, the sport has seen explosive growth. There are now more than 4,600 courts spread across 30 Asian countries, with participation rising steadily. FIP currently represents nearly 100 national federations worldwide, underscoring padel’s global reach.
A Clear Path Toward Olympic Inclusion
FIP continues to work closely with international bodies to promote padel and secure its place in future Olympic programs. “We are proud of this achievement and remain focused on building strong partnerships that will help padel reach the Olympic stage,” said Luigi Carraro, President of the International Padel Federation.
