A world-class debut for the FIP World Cup Pairs
The inaugural edition of the FIP World Cup Pairs was held at the Rafa Nadal Academy in Kuwait and the Arena Kuwait, featuring 48 men’s pairs and 40 women’s pairs. The competition offered 2,000 FIP ranking points to the champions and a prize pool exceeding 1.5 million euros. The event was promoted by the International Padel Federation and aimed to elevate the doubles format to new heights.
Maribel Nadal praises the Academy’s role
Maribel Nadal, deputy general director of the Rafa Nadal Academy by Movistar, expressed her satisfaction with the Academy’s performance during the event. “We are very proud to have hosted the first edition of the FIP World Cup Pairs in Kuwait. The atmosphere, the level of competition, and the engagement from fans exceeded expectations.”
Her comments reflect the Academy’s commitment to promoting padel globally, especially in regions where the sport is rapidly growing.
A showcase of elite padel talent
The tournament concluded with Spanish player Alejandro Galán and Argentine Federico Chingotto winning the men’s title, while Paula Josemaría and Ariana Sánchez claimed the women’s crown. Their victories underscored the high level of play and the international appeal of the event.
The Academy’s facilities, praised for their modern design and player-focused layout, provided an ideal setting for the competition. Professional player Franco Stupaczuk also highlighted the venue’s quality during a guided tour with Maribel Nadal.
