Federico Chingotto, known as “El Ratón,” has defied physical expectations to become one of the most respected players on the Premier Padel circuit, thanks to his tactical brilliance and relentless spirit.
From Olavarría to the world stage
Federico Chingotto’s journey began on modest courts in Olavarría, Argentina, where his passion for padel quickly outgrew the local scene. Standing at just 1.70 meters (5’7″), he lacked the imposing stature of many top players, but compensated with speed, anticipation, and an uncanny ability to read the game. His early partnership with Juan Tello helped him break into the international circuit, where they climbed the rankings and reached several finals between 2016 and 2022.
The Galán-Chingotto partnership
In 2024, Chingotto joined forces with Spanish star Alejandro Galán, forming a duo that immediately made waves on the Premier Padel tour. Their contrasting styles—Galán’s explosive power and Chingotto’s strategic finesse—proved complementary, allowing them to challenge and often defeat the dominant pair of Tapia and Coello.
“One hundred percent confirmed. Fede and I will remain a team next season. There’s no doubt about it,” said Galán to Diario AS, reaffirming their commitment for 2025. Despite a few setbacks, including a loss at the Padel Tour Finals, their chemistry and consistency have made them one of the most feared pairs on the circuit.
Outsmarting the giants
Chingotto’s nickname, “El Ratón,” reflects his style: elusive, clever, and always a step ahead. He’s known for neutralizing taller, more powerful opponents by exploiting angles, timing, and positioning. His ability to turn defense into attack and frustrate rivals with his court coverage has earned admiration across the sport.
“They were unbeatable for a set and a half,” Chingotto said after their comeback win against Tapia and Coello in the FIP World Cup Pairs 2025. “But once we broke them, we saw doubt in their eyes.”
