Why the Newgiza P2 finals are being played on Saturday

This weekend, padel fans may notice an unusual detail: the finals of the Newgiza Premier Padel P2 tournament are being held on Saturday instead of the traditional Sunday. The reason behind this shift is the tight scheduling of the international padel circuit. With the Egyptian tournament wrapping up, top players are expected to travel immediately to Kuwait for the start of the World Pairs Championship on Sunday, November 2.

Giving players time to adapt

To ensure athletes have time to travel, acclimate to local conditions, and train ahead of the next major event, Premier Padel organizers opted to move the final forward by one day. The Newgiza P2 will therefore conclude on Saturday, November 1. This adjustment provides finalists with a crucial buffer before heading to the Gulf region, where both climate and competition will pose new challenges.

Not an isolated case

This isn’t the first time Premier Padel has made such a change. Earlier this year, the Qatar Major also concluded on a Saturday, allowing players to travel to Brussels for another P2 event the following week. These decisions reflect the growing complexity of the padel calendar, which now spans continents and demands careful coordination to maintain player performance and tournament integrity.

Physical demands between desert and humidity

The transition from Egypt’s dry desert heat to Kuwait’s humid conditions will test the physical resilience of the athletes. With little time to recover, finalists must quickly adapt their rhythm and focus. The condensed schedule highlights the importance of strategic planning—not just in matches, but in managing travel, recovery, and preparation across a demanding global tour.
