In recent weeks, the padel world has been buzzing with speculation about Juan Lebrón’s future partner for the 2026 season. While Lebrón and Franco Stupaczuk officially teamed up for 2025, their long-term collaboration remains undecided. At a Siux brand event, Stupaczuk addressed the rumors, stating: “Should we continue? The idea is to talk after the upcoming tour. Focus now on what’s next, on these three tournaments. Then we’ll discuss it.”
Stupaczuk reflects on the season
Stupaczuk offered a candid assessment of their performance in 2025, acknowledging both progress and missed opportunities. “If I had to rate the season, it’s an 8 or 8.5. Our goal was to reach number two, and we didn’t achieve that, but we solidified ourselves as number three,” he said. The duo faced tough competition, often falling to the top-ranked pairs in crucial semifinal matches.
“We ran into number one and number two in the semis. Almost nobody beats them. If you want to climb the rankings, you have to beat them. At the beginning of the year we managed it, but lately it’s been very difficult,” Stupaczuk added.
Augsburger enters the conversation
As uncertainty looms over Lebrón’s 2026 plans, Leo Augsburger has emerged as a potential candidate. The young player from Posadas expressed interest in partnering with Lebrón, saying: “Obviously I would like to play with him. He’s one of the best right-handers in the world. He’s a guy I know and I appreciate him a lot, we get along very well. He’s helped me a lot. Nothing is official yet.”
Augsburger’s comments have fueled speculation, especially as the padel circuit prepares for its final stretch of the season.
Decision deferred until after the tour
For now, Stupaczuk remains focused on the upcoming Middle East tournaments, which will close out the 2025 calendar. The decision about continuing with Lebrón will be made after the tour, with both players expected to evaluate their goals and chemistry before committing to another season together.
