Miguel Lamperti has shared a candid reflection on his current role in professional padel, emphasizing the personal satisfaction he finds in remaining competitive and mentoring rising stars. At 47, the Argentine veteran continues to play on the Premier Padel circuit, pairing with younger talents and embracing a new phase of his career.
Lamperti embraces his evolving role
Speaking to Padel Reviewes, Lamperti acknowledged that his goals have shifted, focusing less on winning titles and more on contributing meaningfully to the sport. “I’m not here to win tournaments anymore, I’m not stupid. But if I feel competitive, that’s a huge satisfaction for me,” he said. “And if I can do that alongside future stars, the satisfaction is even greater.”
Lamperti’s remarks reflect a broader transition from title contender to mentor, as he continues to compete while guiding younger players like Juan Ignacio De Pascual, his current partner on tour.
Still fighting on the court
Despite no longer chasing trophies, Lamperti remains active and engaged. In 2025, he has played nearly 100 matches across the Premier Padel and FIP circuits, reaching the semifinals in Gran Canaria and the quarterfinals in Potosí. His effectiveness rate stands at 47.4%, showing that he still poses a challenge to younger opponents.
His presence on court is marked by energy, charisma, and tactical awareness—qualities that have made him a fan favorite for over two decades.
A legacy built on passion
Lamperti’s career has been defined by longevity and love for the game. Though he never reached world No. 1, he consistently ranked among the top players and earned respect for his dedication and sportsmanship. In a separate interview with Padel Magazine, he reflected: “There were players better than me. I’m not bitter, it doesn’t hurt me. Would I have liked it? Yes. But I’m not losing sleep over it.”
His current approach highlights the value of experience and the importance of passing on knowledge to the next generation.
Looking ahead
As padel continues to grow globally, figures like Lamperti play a crucial role in shaping its future. His willingness to adapt and support emerging talent ensures that his influence will extend beyond his playing days.
