AUSTIN. Vinny Di Francesco and Brittany Dubins make history at the first FIP event in the United States.

Austin marked a milestone for padel in the United States, hosting the country’s first-ever CUPRA FIP Tour event and celebrating landmark victories by two of its standout players.

Di Francesco Makes History in Texas

At just 18 years old, Vinny Di Francesco etched his name into the sport’s record books by becoming the first American male player to win a CUPRA FIP Tour title. Teaming up with Argentina’s Octavio Alvarez, the duo dominated the FIP Bronze final in Austin, defeating Calleja and Maier with a commanding 6-1, 6-2 scoreline.

This victory follows another breakthrough moment for Di Francesco earlier in the year, when he and Nico Agritelley won the all-American clash at the Miami Premier Padel P1, defeating Aaron and Matias Segura.

“We’re the champions of this first FIP in the United States! Super happy to keep growing and winning tournaments together as a team. Let’s go for more!” said Di Francesco after the win.

Brittany Dubins Claims Second FIP Title

The weekend also saw Brittany Dubins secure her second FIP Bronze title, partnering with Portugal’s Margarida Fernandes. The pair, seeded second, overcame top seeds Ramme (Mexico) and Ferreira (Argentina) in the final with a dominant 6-4, 6-0 performance.

Dubins had already made history in July by becoming the first American to win on the FIP circuit, taking the title in Aveiro with the same partner. Their chemistry and consistency were on full display in Austin, as they cruised through the draw and capped their campaign with a statement win.

“Big thanks to Maggie for competing like a maquina all weekend,” said Dubins. “I always believe in us and am simply proud of this team. Congrats to our opponents and friends Jordi & Cami for the finals and playing a great tournament! Thanks to my family & friends for all the love and support. Feeling super grateful to win the first FIP in the USA.”

A New Chapter for US Padel

The success of the Austin event signals a growing presence for padel in the United States, with young talents like Di Francesco and trailblazers like Dubins leading the charge. As the sport continues to expand across North America, these victories offer a glimpse into a promising future for American padel on the international stage.
